Well, it's Monday again, whether we like it or not. As I get older, I understand more and more why Garfield hated Mondays. They're shit!
I'm just joking. I don't even dislike Mondays.
Anyway, we’ve definitely got some news for you. I’ve got to be honest: the news this week isn’t looking great. I’ll start with something positive. Most of the headlines after that? Not exactly uplifting. Let’s get into it.

Today we’re starting in the high seas, the big, beautiful ocean that so many of us love and appreciate.
Now, what’s going on with the ocean? So fucking much. All the time. It's so damn busy, and massive. We’re going to focus on one specific thing, though.
Recently, the United Nations High Seas Treaty moved one step closer to becoming reality. The treaty aims to protect biodiversity in international waters. Its goal is to designate about one-third of the ocean as protected marine zones, limiting activities like overfishing, deep-sea mining, and piracy.
At this point, 50 out of the 60 required countries have signed the agreement. Only 10 more to go. Once finalized, it will allow for the creation of marine protected areas across the high seas, which make up nearly half of Earth’s surface. The goal is to preserve marine life such as whales, coral reefs, and everything else being pushed to the brink by human activity.
I’ll include a link below with more information. I plan to start doing that more consistently.
The fact that 50 countries are already on board says a lot. If the remaining 10 join, there’s real hope here. Maybe we can turn things around. It would be great if we could also figure out how to clean all the garbage out of the ocean. That’s a battle for another day. For now, this is a win. We’ll take it.
If you want to dig deeper, you can find more info right here: United Nations High Seas Treaty.
Now we move on to the bombshell. No pun intended.
It should come as no surprise that Donald Trump is once again doing whatever the fuck he wants. Over the weekend, the United States launched airstrikes on Iran, targeting nuclear processing facilities with massive bunker-busting bombs. Trump made this decision completely on his own, without notifying or consulting Congress.
Why the fuck are we back in the Middle East? Why are we fighting for Israel? These are questions that deserve a damn answer. They just don’t seem to matter to anyone in charge.
Trump’s excuse was that Iran has chanted “Death to America” for decades. That’s true, but it’s not new, and it’s not a reason to escalate into acts of war. Not to mention, if we bombed every country where people shouted “Death to America,” there wouldn’t be many countries left. That includes the United States itself.
The weapon reportedly used was the GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator, designed to destroy hardened underground targets. It is an incredibly powerful bomb, built for precision strikes. That makes this a major escalation.
This strike was not coordinated with Congress. There was no vote, no transparency, no diplomacy. Just a decision made on a whim by a fucking douchebag. I tried to give these people a chance. Tried to be reasonable. Tried to stay civil. One out of ten stars. Would not recommend.
These “bunker busters” likely won’t be the end. This war will now continue, and I’ll keep covering it as more details come out.

Since we’re on the topic of powerful people playing games with the lives of everyone else, let’s talk about Jeff Bezos.
He is reportedly getting married in Venice, Italy, and the event is already causing tension. Protests have started in the city. Nothing explosive yet, but the discomfort is real. Venice has been overwhelmed with tourism for years, and now this massive celebrity wedding is set to clog canals, streets, and every luxury venue available. Guests include people like Oprah, Kim Kardashian, and dozens of other “elite” names.
Local residents are not thrilled. To them, this feels like another billionaire using their fragile, overcrowded city as a stage while regular folks get shoved even further out of sight. Protesters, including groups like Greenpeace, have shown up with banners reading “No Space for Bezos” and warnings about billionaire tax loopholes. Some even attempted to block canal access.
City officials claim the event will help small businesses. Maybe that’s true for high-end hotels, luxury brands, and private caterers. It probably does very little for food carts, family-owned restaurants, or local tradespeople trying to keep up with skyrocketing costs.
Some workers might benefit in the short term. Bartenders, servers, cleaning crews, and people setting up tents or stages might get a temporary bump. Still, does it really help anyone not directly connected to Venice’s luxury economy? Not likely.
Having worked with the public in several jobs over the years, I can tell you this: rich people are usually the worst tippers. Not all of them, obviously. Some are generous. Most are not. They’ll drop two hundred bucks on a meal, then leave ten dollars and act like you should bow for it. Middle-class folks tip better, both percentage-wise and in raw cash. If you’ve ever worked in food service, you know it’s true.
Events like this do not help regular people. They benefit luxury businesses, the ultra-wealthy, and a few elite locals. That’s it.
I’m tired of watching rich people do whatever the hell they want without consequences. It never seems to matter who gets hurt, what gets destroyed, or who gets left behind. They move through the world like they own it. And thanks to a few pieces of paper, they actually believe they do.

Anyway. That’s where I’m going to leave things for now.
Later today, or possibly tomorrow, I’ll post something about Pete Buttigieg. It will be part biography, part opinion piece. We’ll see how it comes together.
Thank you for reading. I appreciate your time, your thoughts, and your presence here. Have a great day.

Actually, the Venetians protesting Bezos' wedding are delightful. That prick ruined my favorite newspaper ( the Washington Post).
And yes, I'm disappointed in extremely wealthy people.
My CPA told me I donate more $$ than some of his richest clients. SAD as shit.
I like what you are doing.
Thanks for this article.
I was not aware of the UN high seas treaty, but that is of great interest for me. Thanks and more of that please. Bezos should be boycotted completely, but people are hooked on Amazon, I am not. I actually will go to the company and order directly from them and sometimes it’s actually cheaper, and the company does not have to lose a percentage to him. But I am not a big shopper anyway. I want less stuff, not more. I enjoyed this post thanks. 😊
