Yeah, turns out they are massive! This one being exceptionally large!
It was definitely interesting to read about it, I never know how many details I should include. I don't know what interests people, and what's likely to just bore them to tears in regards to science and discoveries. Still getting the hang on that one. Lol
I was lucky enough to dive the Great Barrier Reef before the die off accelerated. It was an absolutely fucking incredible experience. What is happening down here now is heartbreaking.
But on a more positive note, there have been great successes in the past few years with creating artificial reefs in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.
Until the discovery of the reef off of the Salomon Islands, the second largest reef in the world (after the GBR) was the Scorpion Reef off the east coast of Mexico. I was also fortunate to dive there and some wrecks near it.
With the GBR and, I'm sure the Scorpion Reef dying off (though the Scorpion Reef seems to get very little coverage), the news of the discovery of the gigantic reef and the successes of the artificial reefs gives me hope.
It's strange. The reply system on here was like broken yesterday or something. I kept replying to people, but it kept on posting it as a comment on my own article instead of a reply to the person. Very strange.
I completely agree, every time I hear of them discovering more reef, I breathe a little easier. No pun intended. LOL
What the hell is happening In Kootenai County? I feel like a lot of bad shit is going on around there….
The news about the newly discovered coral reef is win for our planet. I read that it’s the largest coral reef we’ve discovered and is larger than a blue whale. 🐳 I’ve never seen a coral reef or a blue whale, but I’ll admit that I thought coral reefs would typically be larger than a blue whale. This shows how inaccurate my understanding is regarding coral reefs.
Kenyon, this read like if George Carlin joined the Peace Corps and got a journalism degree. Equal parts howl, hymn, and hot damn.
You thread despair and dark comedy with the precision of someone who’s seen the abyss, made it a sandwich, and told it to sit the hell down.
From the coral deep to Congo’s open wounds to the Idaho inferno and the mousemageddon—this is the gospel of a planet in crisis. And you preach it without flinching.
Keep screaming into the void with this much clarity. Some of us are listening with open hearts and fireproof gloves.
I have seen homegrown and newcomers equally “misguided”.
My roots are in the Northern part of the state where wheat farmers and loggers resided. Where the Forest Service was a major employer and was actually somewhat respected by the local community. Where smokejumpers were trained and transported and came into town blackened by fire to be welcomed by grateful citizens.
Yeah, same here. Small Town North Central Idaho for me.
This kid didn't grow up country, he just moved there. It also appears from everything I'm reading about this kid, that he sort of just snapped. Which strangely seems to happen a lot these days to unsuspecting young 20-something kids.

I learned something new today. Thank you!

Lol! Thanks Aleksander.
That’s what Idaho does.
It’s who they are.
Zero days.
I am 6th generation Idahoan. This man was originally from elsewhere, he was not born here according to all reports.

We’ve done some things that have changed the lives of our young people and we may never get them back.
That seems to be very true.
